KwaThema’s RDP Masters, who are the defending champions of the Tsamaya Masters League’s league cup, are now sitting dangerously in third position on the Group C log after the other two teams in their group, City Royals and TK Masters, played to a 3-3 draw on Sunday.
The cup’s second round of fixtures, played at Buhlebemfundo Secondary in Tsakane Extension 11, produced a clear indication of which teams will go through to the quarter-finals for most groups, except for the so-called ‘Group of Death’, in which the holders are drawn alongside the winners of this year’s Top 8 Super Cup.
RDP, who have a single point on the log after playing to a goalless draw with Royals last week, are now behind TK Masters on goal difference and a point off Royals, who’ve had two draws in their two group stage matches. This means that RDP must beat TK Masters this weekend to advance to the quarters, so they can also have a chance at defending their title.
Meanwhile, Geluksdal Masters, Tsakane Civil Servants, Verbal Warning and Skomboys are already through to the last eight, while the other four qualifiers will be determined at the Tlakula High School Ground in KwaThema this Sunday.
