Current log leaders and champions of the Top 8 Super Cup, City Royals from KwaThema, played to a goalless draw against rivals Highland on Sunday (18 June 2017), while Geluksdal beat the Tsakane Civil Servants 2-1, which meant that the two teams draw level on 25 points at the top of the standings after 11 matches.
That round of matches was the last before the beginning of the league cup, popularly known as the Siyadlala Cup, which begins on Sunday, 25 June.
This means that the second round of the league season, which will resume before the final match of the cup, will be all the more interesting with the two clubs waiting for each other to drop points so one of them can hopefully stretch the lead at the top. What with Tsakane Civil Servants, who are sitting in third place, trailing the leaders by just two points, as they are currently on 23.
Commenting on Royals’ draw with Highland, star player Sipho Mtshweni says he feels the reason for the team’s poor performance in the match was due to the disharmony within the team, as players all feel that they know enough to not listen to each other’s instructions.
